KOTA KINABALU: Keperluan melantik Timbalan Perdana Menteri daripada Sabah, Sarawak tidak harus dilihat sebagai memenuhi tuntutan hak sama rata dalam Perjanjian Malaysia 1963 semata-mata.Bercakap kepada Utusan Malaysia, Ahli Majlis Kerja Tertinggi UMNO, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan berkata, ramai dalam kalangan pemimpin Sabah dan Sarawak mempunyai pengalaman, berkebolehan dan berkaliber untuk dilantik sebagai Timbalan Perdana Menteri mahupun Perdana Menteri.

Walau bagaimanapun, beliau berharap rakan-rakan di Semenanjung tidak bersikap prejudis atau was-was dengan kebolehan pemimpin Sabah, Sarawak. “Kita masih mempunyai kawasan yang luas dan subur maka, pusat ekonomi negara akhirnya akan beralih ke Sabah dan Sarawak yang kaya dengan pelbagai sumber seperti minyak dan gas,” katanya.
