Group chief executive officer Captain Izham Ismail said the initiatives would last until the situation gets better to sustain MAG’s cash flow.
Izham said its board members had avolunteered to take a 50 per cent cut from their monthly director fees. Izham said MAG would need to take more hard measures as the group aggressively defend its cash position in anticipation of further slump in travel which likely last for at least another three to six months.
“It was not an easy decision for me to make, but in order for all of us to continue maintaining our livelihood and ensure the sustainability of the company, sacrifices will have to be made,” he said. “This is truly a scenario that is beyond any risk calculation that any airline would ever envision to happen,” he said.
