Tony Fernandes says AirAsia seeking government loan, not bailout

BY EMMANUEL SANTA MARIA CHIN

While saying his airline has sufficient reserves to sustain it at least until the end of the year, Fernandes added that a government loan would help the company’s cash flow situation during the current Covid-19 pandemic.“We think the cash will last us for the most part of this year and if we return then we will be okay.

“If available in Malaysia or Thailand and such, we’d be looking down those lines, but we have enough cash to last us quite a while for the moment,” he said. “We have made our recommendations to the government and I am sure in the not so distant future something will come. “We will focus on ourselves to make it strong enough but we are going to keep quite a few options open.

AA engaged in massive knock-down sales only to cancel all flights soon after. AA’s way to lock consumers months ahead is snicky and unethical. Further, it expects govt bailouts then turn around and claim the govt did not help at all. AA doesnt deserve public funding.

2020 and we're on PKP season 2. Why there're still people reading and take MalayMail article seriously. They're a corrupt media, look what they have done all this year. Spread fitnah, take things out of context and twisted news only. Just see what they did to Dr Zul recently

I can give you rm100, but you will pay me back rm1000 in 5 years.

Can the Government trust this guy with a loan? This is the same guy who refused to pay whatever is owed to MAHB. weechookeong

Flight cancelled....bila ko nak bayar balik ticket aku ha....?

Plse don't give. It's another TF scam

When people lose jobs, how to fly? No need for loan.

Yes we saw you kinda 'submitted' your loan application when you played golf with the PM.

Haha, start and run business with other people's money. Nothing to lose

Just get the loan from the bank.

Sell ur asset la

RIP airasia.

Tambi, podah. What loan. Remember GE14. Now go ask that kleptorat najis to loan you money. Don't you dare touch rakyat's money

You should be in prison no?

He can ask Airbus to give him a loan!

Why government and not banks?

You want a loan, you ask a bank. You should play golf with the bank VVIPs instead.

any difference?

Loan are for those who want to buy car house not billionaire who go shopping for planes and when to dry seek for bailout from GOV why not you use all your asset to convert in to cash and save your company don't ask for tax payer money

Golf day...

Try Najib.

Yeah..rightttttt

Technically, it’s not the same, but fundamentally it’s the same.
