PETALING JAYA: Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Despite work commitments as a frontliner, Sivarajan Ettiappan continued to persevere to put his name in the Malaysia Book of Records as well as the Asia Book of Records.
Sivarajan, a physiotherapist, accomplished the “longest non-stop backwards walk on a treadmill” challenge at the Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre in Klang on Malaysia Day. The 33-year-old started his walk at 8am and completed the arduous mission the following day at 9.45am.“The attempt was live streamed on my Facebook page and the event took place at Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre,” he said, adding that the event has been planned for sometime.
“It has been my long-time desire to make such a record-breaking attempt and I chose Malaysia Day because as a frontliner myself, I wanted to dedicate this to the frontline workers and organisations who have worked tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.“I started to walk backwards on the treadmill for one hour, and slowly increased the hours until the required target is reached.
“I have faced various challenges, including sustaining scratches and bruises after falling on the treadmill during training. I also doze off during the attempt,” he remarked.
