PUTRAJAYA: Kerajaan berpendapat tindakan untuk menarik balik kedua-dua Permohonan Semakan ke atas keputusan kes Pulau Batu Puteh, Batuan Tengah dan Tubir Selatan serta Permintaan Tafsiran ke atas keputusan yang sama adalah tidak teratur dan tidak wajar.
“Walau bagaimanapun, kerajaan menghormati keputusan Mahkamah Keadilan Antarabangsa dalam kes ini yang diputuskan pada 23 Mei 2008 lalu dan Jabatan Peguam Negara sedang mengkaji syor-syor yang dibuat oleh Pasukan Petugas Khas tersebut. Terdahulu, pada pada 15 Oktober 2022, bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad memaklumkan keputusan penarikan balik permohonan semakan dan pentafsiran penghakiman pada 2018 melibatkan Batu Puteh dibuat atas nasihat pegawai dilantik iaitu bekas Peguam Negara, Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.
