Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the family gave themselves up at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station just before midnight on Friday.
It is said that the couple, a 42-year-old man and his 41-year-old wife from Bahau, about 15km from here, is the victim’s granduncle and grandaunt.“Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl had multiple injuries, swellings, burn marks and old scars all over her body,” he added. He said the victim’s mother paid the couple RM300 a month to help take care of the girl as she was working in another state.“The victim was later rescued by another aunt and has been warded at Hospital Kuala Pilah for treatment,” he added.
Supt Hoo said the case is being investigated under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment of up to 20 years or both upon conviction.Article type: free
