PETALING JAYA: M. Thinaah (pic) will be aiming to get her debut as a badminton doubles player off to a flying start at the Malaysian International Series in Ipoh.

The 21-year-old has been handed a lifeline in April with the switch after little success in the singles. This year, she struggled with a qualifying round defeat at the Thailand Masters and first-round exits at the Laos International Series and Vietnam International Challenge.

“I’m very happy to partner Pearly because we are now close outside the court ... since I treated her to lok-lok!” quipped Thinaah. Thinaah insists she and Pearly are not under pressure to repeat the surprise doubles victory she claimed with Payee Lim last year.
