Targeted Fuel Subsidy scheme to commence on Jan 1 thesundaily Petrol

: The government will provide a monthly petrol subsidy of RM30 for car owners and RM12 for motorcycle owners.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the subsidy for RON 95 fuel will be paid every four months starting in April of next year. He said about 2.8 million vehicle owners are expected to receive the subsidy costing the government RM65.4 million a month. “It was decided that people who own cars with 1600cc and below will qualify for the subsidy. Also included are those who own cars of 1600cc and above but the cars must be over 10 years old.

“As for motorcycle owners, those with motorcycles of 150cc and below and those of a similar cc but are over seven years old.”
