His 1 second of voice acting still sucks balls. No accent.

*Brooklyn* accent. Mario has never been from Italy, and the Charles Martinet interpretation is the only one that makes him sound like the chef off a pizza box. He's always been a Brooklynite, and sounded like it in every other rendition of the character.

And *immediately* demonstrated why 'professional voice actor' is a thing, and 'just hire a screen actor' is a terrible decision.
