All of these substances contribute greatly to pollution in our homes, where we spend up to 90 per cent of our time, points out the French Environment & Energy Management Agency ., three-year-olds exposed to chemicals in cleaning products may develop asthma and recurrent wheezing more easily.
For this latest meta-study, researchers selected the responses of 2,022 parents to a questionnaire designed to provide information on their child's exposure to cleaning products in the first three-to-four months of their lives. The children were then assessed at age three to determine whether they suffered from asthma, recurrent wheezing or atopy .
