KOTA KINABALU: A total of RM34.87mil has been allocated to assist Sabah’s farmers and fishermen who have been hit by the current Covid-19 pandemic, says Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the special allocation under Bantuan Prihatin totalling RM34,874,400 will help lessen the negative impact of Covid-19 in the agricultural and fisheries industry in the state.

The Fisheries Department will disperse RM3,200,700 to 10,699 fishermen, while 16,205 oil palm smallholders will receive RM4,861,500 from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board.The Sabah Rubber Fund Board will distribute to 48,756 rubber smallholders a total of RM14,626,800 while 2,069 veterinary breeders will get RM620,700.

However, he said that those not listed would also be considered for the cash aid as long as they are registered with the relevant departments or agencies.
