The Sarawak leg of the world's largest obstacle race will be on Oct 19 and 20. FMTNews SpartanRace

Sarawak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Spartan Race director David Fully and officials and sponsors at the press conference to announce details of the event in Kuching today.

KUCHING: The Spartan Race, the world’s largest obstacle race, will be held in Sarawak for the first time on Oct 19 and 20. The Sarawak leg features a number of events, including the sprint , beast , ultra and “hurricane heat” categories where individuals would be mentally and physically challenged for 12 hours non-stop.

More than 3,000 international and local runners are expected to take part in the race, which will be flagged off from the Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service. “So far, about 1,500 participants from Singapore, Japan, Australia and countries as far as Andorra and Malta have confirmed joining,” Sarawak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told a press conference here today..“I believe there will be a lot of participants signing up for this event as Borneo is becoming a popular destination,” he said.
