CYBERJAYA: Kedah, Penang and Melaka have yet to apply for cloud seeding activities despite having low water levels in their dams, says the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

Cause for concern: The water level at the Pedu Lake in Kuala Nerang, Kedah is reported to be going down and there are concerns that the prolonged drought could affect water supply to consumers. — BernamaKedah, Penang and Melaka have yet to apply for cloud seeding activities despite having low water levels in their dams, says the National Water Services Commission .

“We are monitoring the situation and will help to coordinate sending treated water from other operators if need be, ” he said. The Star reported that the water crisis in northern states is unlikely to get better with two dams in Kedah already hovering at the danger level. Penang issued a water alert after the effective capacity at the Air Itam and Teluk Bahang dams went lower than normal. There are 46 dams in the peninsula and one in Labuan.Asked whether there are any issues concerning water supply in Selangor and Klang Valley, he said so far water level dams in the state is stable.
