PETALING JAYA: A scheduled press conference by Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof later Friday (June 5) has sparked speculation that there will be further resignations in the Perikatan Nasional government.

However, a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia insider denied that Redzuan was holding the press conference to announce his resignation as a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.

According to the source, there were also fake invitations on press conferences sent to the media amid the intensifying infighting between former party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's faction and Muhyiddin's camp.Another source, this one from Redzuan's office, said most likely the press conference would have to take place later at 4.30pm for him to formally deny that he is resigning.

"That is why a statement was issued last Friday to deny that the press conference would take place," the source added.
