SOP formed after Merdeka Palace controversy, court told

This was revealed by Federal Land Development Authority administrative officer Siti Salwani Mohamed Salleh during the first day of the criminal breach of trust and corruption trial of former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.Under cross-examination by Isa’s counsel Datuk Salehuddin Saidin, the second prosecution witness said the SOP was only introduced after the hotel purchase issue came about.

Siti Salwani said she only knew about this during the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigations into the purchase of the hotel. Earlier, in the prosecution’s opening statement, deputy public prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz said Isa had, in his capacity as the director of FICSB, played an active role in the purchase of the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites, in Kuching, Sarawak, from developer Gegasan Abadi Properties Sdn Bhd for RM160 million.
