processor which is a trimmed-down version of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Now the American chipmaker has announced a new mid-ranger SoC that joins the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The latest one is the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 which arrives as the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. It packs a range of improvements, especially on the AI front. So we can expect devices powered by this chipset to pack AI features. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is still based on TSMC’s 4nm process like its predecessor.
The striking highlight of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is its support for on-device generative AI capabilities. The mobile platform supports a wide range of large language models such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano, and more. This means that phones powered by the chipset should make virtual assistants better along with more features. There is also multi-language translation and transcription.
