Singapore reviews execution notification after Malaysian’s case

According to the procedure in place since 2016, death row inmates and their families are notified of the clemency petition outcome by the Singapore president's office and receive a notification on the execution date from the Prisons Service at the same time. – EPA pic, July 11, 2019.

SINGAPORE is reviewing its notification procedure to allow death row inmates and clemency petitioners know the date of execution sooner. This follows a consideration of the appellate court’s decision in May to grant Malaysian convict Pannir Selvam Pranthaman a stay of execution.
