SIBU: Police are still searching for the lower right leg of a double-amputee diabetes patient following the discovery of his left leg at Bukit Lima cemetery on Sunday (Jan 16).

Acting Sibu OCPD Supt Dr Collin Babat told reporters on Monday that they had identified the patient, a 70-year old man from Selangau.

"After the man had undergone amputation of his legs from the knee down at Hospital Sibu recently, he asked a family member to bury the body parts. "But the burial was not properly done as the relative buried the limbs only about 30cm deep at the cemetery," he said.It was later found by a worker at a recycling shop near the cemetery."There was initial fear that it could be a murder case but it turned out otherwise," he said."At this moment, we are still looking for the right leg as it is not at the scene.

"As a police report has been lodged, we have to do a DNA test to confirm the limb we found belongs to the patient," he added.
