PETALING JAYA: Doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik’s world title victory has eased some pressure but it does not change the fact that Malaysian badminton still have lots of catching up to do.

On Sunday, Aaron-Wooi Yik served up a stunner to beat three-time world champions Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia in the final to nail their biggest career win.

Aaron-Wooi Yik must be supported by several other pairs, and by now they should be snapping at their heels. There was much ado about Zii Jia making a big impact in his third world meet but was sent packing in the third round by China’s Zhao Junpeng.Physically, he looked good but he was under tremendous pressure to deliver after skipping the Commonwealth Games and several other tournaments to focus on the world meet and came up short.
