GEORGE TOWN: The Hong Kong national security law can help maintain the country’s political and economic stability in the long run despite creating short-term tension and uncertainty, says Datuk Seri Cheah Cheng Hye (pic).

The Malaysian-born Cheah, a fund manager based in Hong Kong, is often described as the Warren Buffett of Asia.

“Hence, experienced investors are well aware that the introduction of the Hong Kong national security law is just a matter of time. “The introduction of the national security law can reduce conflict in the region in the long run although there might be tension and uncertainty at present, ” he said. “If the US reacts negatively, there might be a negative impact on Hong Kong’s stock exchange, but it will not be as bad as predicted due to the decline in dependence between both economies.

FMTNews The opium war began because China wanted to defend and save itself from the evil of the British which forced the legalisation of the opium trade and poisoned majority of the Chinese people. The British rule of HK was a rule of inequality and tyranny. Was there democracy in HK? For 150 years British plundered wealth and downgraded HK people to 3rd class citizen. Let history not forget the evil that the British did to HK. The social imbalance and wealth gap today is the direct result from British rule and the conditions imposed at the handover. Chairman Xi is not nervous, his actions are perfectly justified. Chinese people prospered and it is clearly proven by the rise of China over the last 2 decades while the UK failed miserably to improve and innovate their economy. The British empayar today is weak, poor and sick.
