Search ops for missing nine-year-old to focus on rubbish traps in several Klang Valley rivers

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The search-and-rescue (SAR) mission for Mohamad Danish Supri Antony, 9, who is feared drowned after falling into a drain six days ago, has been narrowed down to several rubbish traps in the Klang Valley.

Pandan Indah Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Faizal Md Zain said the traps involved were located at Sungai Kandis, Klang; Seri Muda, Shah Alam; and Lembah Maju, Pandan; and the search would be coordinated by the respective fire stations in the area. "The SAR operation scope will focus on 'hotspot' areas where the victim is likely to have been swept away to. "As of today, a search area of between 40km and 50 km has been covered from Sungai Kerayong, Ampang, up to Sungai Klang," he told Bernama. He said search operations along Sungai Kerayong, which were carried out until its base, did not yield any results. He noted that the operation were being carried out daily with about 50 personnel from fire stations in Pandan Indah, Port Klang, Shah Alam, Andalas, Kota Raja and Puchong. The operation also involves the services of the Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department as well as the police's Canine Unit (K9) and drones. Mohd Faizal said the operation would be continued until Monday (Oct 14), but it would depend on any new leads. Mohamad Danish was reported missing on Tuesday (Oct 8) and was feared drowned after falling into a drain while playing with several friends in Taman Bukit Teratai, Ampang. - Bernama Related stories: Read more: The Star
