Sarawak emergency order extended until February

Sarawak will remain in a state of emergency until February 2, which effectively defers state elections that were due in June. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, July 31, 2021.

SARAWAK will remain in a state of emergency until February 2 next year, a federal gazette issued late yesterday announced.. The state government said the extension of movement curbs was to “to prevent any further increase in the spread of Covid-19 if state elections are held” when the emergency ends, as required by law.
