A new Malaysian art auction house record has been set with the sale of a 1991 painting from Datuk Ibrahim Hussein , who is also known as"Ib".sold for RM918,400 at the recent Henry Butcher Malaysian and South-East Asian Art Auction in Kuala Lumpur.
In Malaysia, this sale is now the highest at official art auction for the legendary artist and the KL-based auction house. "At current challenging times where things are uncertain, we are grateful that the supporters and collectors continue to acquire art. We were initially worried about the market response . The previous Henry Butcher Art Auction held on March 15 recorded RM2.3mil, with 60% lots on offer sold. We have registered a 20% growth this time, compared to the previous auction," adds Sim.
