Arahan dan Penentuan berkenaan penggunaan spektrum jalur frekuensi 700MHz, iaitu jalur spektrum perintis bagi pelaksanaan rangkaian telekomunikasi selular generasi kelima negara, telah diarah dibatalkan, kata Menteri Komunikasi dan Multimedia Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
“Saya telah mengarahkan Pengerusi Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia , untuk membatalkan Arahan dan Penentuan itu, serta mengkaji semula 18 instrumen yang dibentangkan kepadanya sebelum ini, dengan kadar segera,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan di sini, hari ini. Menurut beliau, sumber spektrum merupakan satu aset negara yang diuruskan SKMM, manakala pengurusan dan kawal selia penggunaannya, adalah berdasarkan peruntukan Akta Komunikasi dan Multimedia 1998 dan Peraturan-Peraturan Komunikasi dan Multimedia 2000.
