KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — The High Court today dismissed an application by lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah to stay the proceeding of a suit filed against him by the Inland Revenue Board for failing to pay income tax arrears amounting to RM9.41 million.

His lawyer, Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, said Judicial Commissioner Roz Mawar Rozain dismissed the application with a cost of RM5,000 to be paid to the Inland Revenue Board . Meanwhile, Senior Revenue Counsel Al-Hummidallah Idrus, who represented the IRB, when contacted, confirmed the matter. Muhammad Shafee, 70, filed the application on November 3 last year, which, among other things, sought an order for the proceedings to be temporarily suspended pending the outcome of an application filed by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his son, Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin, regarding the payment of income tax, amounting to RM1.69 billion and RM37.6 million respectively, to the IRB, before the Federal Court.

1MDB trial: RM2.08b went into Najib’s AmIslamic account within 20 days in 2013, while RM2.5b went out within four monthsKUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — More than RM2.08 billion had entered former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's personal account at AmIslamic bank in just nine transactions... And all those while Bank Negara said nothing & did nothing? Any form of such “massive money movements” would have triggered a BNM investigation and query on the legitimacy and rationality of such high transactional values or volume but no…just because it was our ex PM account?🤷 Wow! we are talking about billions. Aren't inflows and outflows between countries subject to both a bank declaration (source, purpose etc) and a form/notification to the Central Bank? I thought this was an international norm now the threshold was US$10K?
