The newly-crowned Swiss Open champions beat home shuttlers Jessica Hopton-Jenny Moore to become the first Malaysian women’s pair in eight years to make the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament.The 21-18, 21-7 win was completed in 32 minutes and Thinaah-Pearly, who shocked fourth seeds Jongkolphan Kititharakul-Rawinda Prajongjai from Thailand in the opening round, will face Nami Matsuyama-Chiharu Shida today for a place in the semis.

Mixed doubles fifth seeds Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Li were the first to fall, losing in straight games to Irish siblings Sam and Chloe Magee.
