PETALING JAYA: Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia mengeluarkan amaran ribut petir dijangka berlaku di beberapa kawasan di Sarawak dan Sabah sehingga pukul 7 malam.
Menerusi perkongsian di laman Facebook rasminya, ribut petir dan hujan lebat dijangka berlaku di Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong , Sarikei , Sibu, Kapit dan Bintulu . Di Sabah, ribut petir dan hujan lebat dijangka berlaku di Pedalaman , Pantai Barat, Tawau , Sandakan dan Kudat . Amaran MetMalaysia sering dikeluarkan apabila terdapat tanda-tanda menunjukkan ribut petir dengan intensiti hujan melebihi 20 mm/jam yang hampir atau dijangka berlaku melebihi sejam.
Amaran ribut petir adalah amaran jangka pendek yang sah dalam tempoh tidak melebihi enam jam untuk satu-satu keluaran.
