A legendary Malayan beauty, Rose Chan was a stripper, dancer, entertainer and philanthropist with a fascinating life story. FMTNews FMTLifestyle

Rose Chan was a stunning Malaysian entertainer whose performances could be infamously raunchy. But for the older generation, just hearing her name will send hearts palpitating, as her beauty and performances were legendary.

She was also known as the Charity Queen as she donated much of what she earned from her performances to charity, often anonymously. Born as Chan Wai Chang in Suzhou, China, she was adopted and brought to Kuala Lumpur in 1931 when she was six years old. The following year, during a performance, she suffered a wardrobe malfunction which saw her bra strap snapping in mid-performance.

He remembers that Malayan society during Tunku Abdul Rahman’s time was honest, open-minded and liberal enough to allow Rose to reach stardom the way she did.

Back when Malaya had a civilized, cultured and noble ruling class. Everything’s down the Najis gutter these days, even the raja-raja.

Interesting and what’s more interesting is how the society back then are more open and honest compared today’s generation. It’s the same belief, the same race yet they still able to hold everything in place. Their thinking standard is what we’re lacking.
