THERE have been reports that people have been receiving letters allegedly from the Finance Ministry asking them for money for 'fees' to release cash into their accounts.According to a post on the Finance Ministry's Facebook page, the Ministry has never sent out any such letters.

The Ministry went on to say that the letters were part of a scam and were sent out with the intent to defraud people. The post also advised people to be wary of schemes that promised large returns for little to no effort. These letters are a variant of the advance-fee scam, where recipients are informed that they have won or are about to receive a large sum of money.

However, the victims are told that they have to pay a small fee in order to have the cash released to them.
