PETALING JAYA: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation's (PTPTN) National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) recorded a jump of 19.66% in investment profit to RM118.46mil for the first half of 2020, up from RM99mil during the same period in 2019.

The increase in investment profit, said PTPTN, was made possible by using short and long-term, shariah-compliant investment methods which provide positive returns.

"Additionally, we also implemented sustainable investment strategies as well as prudent cost management measures to ensure competitive dividend rates could be provided," it said in a statement Wednesday . "PTPTN's SSPN depositors have been trusting and supportive towards us despite the damage Covid-19 has caused to the economy. Despite the difficult economic landscape, they continuously deposited funds to their SSPN accounts for the purpose of ensuring their childrens' education.
