Popular Klang restaurant demolished after losing legal battle to stop eviction

Various enforcement officers, including Federal Reserve Unit personnel, were roped in to assist policemen to keep order as district office vehicles began arriving at the scene at about 8.30pm Tuesday .

As enforcement officers began to cordon off the area and also parts of the main road in front of the restaurant, several hundred passers-by also gathered at the five-foot-way and nearby premises to see what unfolded. The restaurant operator was seen entering the restaurant to remove some of his equipment prior to the demolition.

The electricity to the premises was cut off at 10.20pm Tuesday before two excavators moved in to tear it down.The restaurant began operations in 2000 after it obtained a Temporary Occupation Licence from the Selangor government. Since 2004, the licence was not renewed, but the restaurant continued to operate until now at the site that had been gazetted as a public area.
