Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Nadzri Hussain said police also seized 11 items during a special operation held from Dec 13 to Dec 31 last year."Such activity is usually located at traffic light junctions with traders selling food and fruits," he said in a statement on Monday .
If not controlled, such activity could be risky and cause accidents to the traders and other road users, he added. "Selling items at inappropriate locations such as traffic light junctions is an offence under the Road Transport Rules 1959 ," he said. DCP Mohd Nadzri said the department also conduct 137 advocacy activities to remind roadside traders not to sell food, fruits or drinks at any junction or on any road."We hope for the cooperation of the public to increase the effectiveness of the operation," he said.
