PM: Be proud of Bahasa Melayu

“Currently, there are more than 6,000 languages still in use, but only 20 languages are categorised and given official language status.

Ismail Sabri said this in his speech during the opening of the 2021 Bahasa Melayu International Public Speaking competition held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia here on Sunday night. Ismail Sabri hopes to see more usage of the national language in various affairs, including for meetings and conferences.

but how come when i speak english people understand me compared to when i speak that bahasa?

Let's start wt our leaders addressing in BM in international platforms, inclng ASEAN.

I agree that everyone should be proud of BM becuz it's our bahasa Kebangsaan, no doubt. But one needs to learn to equip himself with many other skills to be competitive. Don't stay on the same level and repeat the grandmother story
