"Taking into account the safety of highway users and toll plaza staff, the Fire and Rescue Department had ordered the exit lanes to be immediately closed to all vehicles.
"The closure was also to facilitate cleaning, evaluation and removal works to be held in a safe and controlled environment," said chief operating officer, Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi in a statement Saturday . He also expressed his thanks to all agencies that had helped in containing and controlling the situation.
Earlier, a truck carrying hazardous material overturned, forcing several lanes at the Ayer Keroh toll plaza in Melaka to be closed.
