MIRI: An oil palm estate worker who went missing in a huge plantation in the Belaga district was found alive after three days of search-and-rescue (SAR) operations.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department carried out the SAR at the Marong Estate in the remote district in central Sarawak after the 36-year-old worker went missing on Tuesday night.He was finally found in a weak condition under a tree late on Friday .He was carried out on a stretcher and was later handed over to police and the estate management.

Preliminary reports showed that he was in the plantation working when he went missing late on Tuesday night.His colleagues carried out a search but called Belaga police for help when they could not find him.Plantations in rural Sarawak can cover as much ground as 60,000ha in size.
