Pihak berkuasa agama negeri melabelkan Syiah sebagai “menyeleweng”, selain menggesa orang Islam Malaysia supaya mengikut mazhab Sunni.Dalam pada itu, Suhakam berkata, ia turut menyampaikan mesej berkaitan kepada orang Islam di Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang dan Negeri Sembilan dengan menyediakan khutbah Jumaat bertemakan isu hak asasi manusia.
