Jabatan Statistik berkata, pengenalan had pendapatan garis kemiskinan baru menjadikan jumlah isi rumah yang tergolong dalam kategori miskin bertambah kepada 405,441 berbanding hanya 16,653 jika menggunakan had sebelum ini.
Begitu juga dengan bilangan isi rumah miskin tegar berdasarkan garis PGK baru ini, berjumlah 27,158 pada 2019, berbanding 1,752 mengikut had lama. Menurut laporan itu, pendapatan penengah tumbuh sederhana sebanyak 3.9% setahun kepada RM5,873 pada 2019 dan pendapatan purata pula meningkat 4.2% setahun kepada RM7,901.
