NSTnation: Penang is still awaiting response from Putrajaya on its proposal to transfer raw water from Perak to the state.

Penang Water Supply Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said the matter was made known to Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar during a meeting in September."We are still waiting," Jaseni said when met at the"Jom Kenali Sungai Kelian" awareness campaign in Tanjung Bungah here today.

He said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow had also written to the ministry recently to follow-up on the matter. Sungai Perak is relatively an under-utilised Northern Corridor Economic Region raw water resource, and the SPRWTS has the potential to ensure water supply sustainability in Perak and Penang until 2050.
