Penang fishermen say it again – ‘no’ to reclamation project

Pen Mutiara says the fishing community’s position on the Penang South Reclamation project has not changed, with more than 6,000 of its members still against it. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 13, 2021.

THE Penang Fishermen’s Association today reiterated that the fishing community’s position on the three-island reclamation project in the south of Penang has not changed, with more than 6,000 of its members still against the mega project. Pen Mutiara chairman Mahadi Md Rodzi said the association’s establishment is subject to the Fishermen’s Association Act 1971, under which it was registered.
