PBAPP chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said this was because it was still waiting for the Perak government to decide on the sale of raw water to Penang as proposed under the Sungai Perak Raw Water Distribution Scheme .
He added that the implementation of the plan would also allow Penang to optimise Sungai Muda as its main source of raw water supply and then explore two new raw water resources, namely the Mengkuang Dam and Sungai Perai. "They are Phase 2 Upgrading of the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant sedimentation tank; Package 12A of the Sungai Dua LRA: additional new water treatment module; Phase 1 of the Mengkuang Dam LRA; Phase 1 of the Sungai Muda LRA; and New Sungai Perai Water Supply Scheme: Pre-treatment process with the potential to yield an estimated 569 MLD,” he said.
