He described the relationship between the organisation and the state government, under Chow’s leadership, as “warm, cordial and effective”. “By working together, the state government and NGOs can combine their strengths and resources to ensure inclusive development,” said Cheah. Its chairman Datuk Chua Sui Hau said the NGO worked closely with the state government to help the needy.
“He told us that as an elected representative, it was his responsibility to help the people in his area regardless of their race, religion or political background.Munower Sadiq said Penang government, through the local councils, also granted assessment tax exemption for places of worship and charitable organisations that complied with certain requirements.
