State environment, green technology, science, technology, innovation and consumer affairs committee chairman Hee Loy Sian said the state spent RM72,000 to distribute 50 tables and 150 chairs to each village.“The first was last year, where 50 tables and 150 chairs were given to Kampung Orang Asli Broga and Kampung Orang Asli Kachau, each. There are 143 families in the two villages.
“Now, we have distributed to the remaining villages which are Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Lalang Baru, Kampung Orang Asli Genting Peras, Kampung Orang Asli Donglai Baru, Kampung Orang Asli Paya Lebar, Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Gabai, Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Congkak and Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Pangsun, which will benefit another 575 families,” he said at the handover ceremony held at Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Pangsun.
Hee said the Orang Asli community had been asking for the tables and chairs as what they had was insufficient, old and in bad condition.“It will benefit about 718 Orang Asli families who can use them when organising wedding parties and other ceremonies.” Also present were Hulu Langat MP Datuk Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus, Selangor and Federal Territories Orang Asli Development Department director Zainul Adnan Zainal Abidin and Kajang Municipal councillor Lim Kim Eng.
