Malaysia News, Malaysia Headlines

Its secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said the nomination process went on smoothly for all 188 divisions as well as 131 Youth and 167 Wanita wings at the divisional level from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday.

He said a total of 36 divisions (19.1%), nine Youth wing (6.9%) and seven Wanita wing (4.2%) saw tough fights for various positions while the rest had no challengers. The divisional polls will be held simultaneously with the respective annual general assemblies on June 10 for the Youth and Wanita wings and June 11 for the main body.“Elections will be carried out at eight divisions in Johor, followed by five in Kedah, four each in Melaka and Negri Sembilan, three each in Perak, Pahang and Federal Territories, two each in Selangor and Penang, as well as one each in Perlis and Sabah,” said Chong, who is also party election steering committee chairman.

Under the system, 33,000 delegates from 188 divisions nationwide will elect the party president, deputy president, four vice-presidents and 25 central committee members.
