This is the first time since 2016 that OnePlus isn't releasing a T-series device. They also said next year's flagship will run the merged OS with ColorOS.

It’s only been a number of days since the launch of the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, but rival smartphone maker OnePlus have revealed that they won’t be releasing their own T-series devices this year. This would be the first time since 2016 that OnePlus have not refreshed their flagship device with a T-series version.

According to an interview with The Verge, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau not only revealed that OnePlus will not be launching the OnePlus 9T, but next year’s OnePlus 10 will be running on a new operating system too. This new operating system will be based on the unification of their own OxygenOS and Oppo’s ColorOS.

It’s a shame that we won’t be seeing the OnePlus 9T lineup this year, as historically OnePlus’ T-lineup of devices tend to bring a number of choice upgrades to their flagship smartphones. The OnePlus 8T for instance had a 120Hz refresh rate, an extra monochrome lens, bigger battery and faster charging compared to the original OnePlus 8.
