NSTnation: Each time Malaysia brought up the water agreement for a review, Singapore seemed to be using other issues to even the score.

It has become a trend for Singapore to be on the defensive mode, each time Malaysia tries to negotiate the current price of 3 sen per gallon.

"Water is a matter of basic rights and it's a subject of national security for both nations. We have been supplying water to them since 1961 even before the Water Agreement 1962 was signed."It is only after more than 60 years Malaysia wants to revise the tariff but they are still not agreeable to it," she added.

Salawati said as a neighbour, Singapore should be neighbourly by addressing the water issues of both countries. Azizan said although Singapore had embarked on various efforts to produce it's own water resources, it could not rely completely on them because it was too costly to sustain.

A lot of lies from this panelists. The VEP increased from Singapore is because Malaysia had implemented a cost of new VEP. The water agreement is signed and any party who broke it means clearly they had broke it, simple facts. Another fact, Malaysia is very racist and full of greedy politicians and lazy selfish people who turn to savage others. Why you guys cannot reveal all the truths in your negotiations contents but chosen to lie to the Malaysian?

Or why Johor is still not self-sufficient in terms of producing treated water & has to buy (& is continuing to buy) treated water from S'pore?.. khalednordin SahruddinDr xavierjayakumar

Seriously? Why, for example, did the panelists not ask why successive Johor state govts have been buying treated water from S'pore & reselling that water at a marked-up price to Johoreans?..khalednordin SahruddinDr xavierjayakumar
