On Wednesday, the estimated population in Yangon region reached 8.39 million, followed by Mandalay region with 6.54 million and Shan state with 6.43 million, listed as top three regions and state with most population, the Information Ministry quoted population department’s figures as saying.
The country’s population registered 54.45 million on Jan 1 this year, according to the figures released by the population department under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population earlier this year. Of the total, female outnumbered male by 2.28 million as population of female registered 28.43 million while 26.15 million were male, according to the department’s figures based on the statistics of the country’s 2014 census. — Xinhua
