No matter where we are, home is where the heart is, after all.

Having been away in Singapore and unable to see her children in the last 12 months due to the pandemic, Deepa Krishnan has decided to quit her job as a bank officer and return to Penang.

“My husband and I were stuck in the republic during the last Deepavali while my parents, children, sister and her son were all in Johor for the festival,” said Deepa when met at her parents’ home in Sungai Ara, Penang. Deepa, who was working in a bank in Penang before taking up the job offer in Singapore, said the Covid-19 pandemic turned many lives upside down, including theirs.

“My husband, who is also from Penang, was working in a company and we were quite happy as we were staying in Johor and working in Singapore. Deepa, however, said her husband would not be able to join them in celebrating Deepavali this year due to work commitments.
