Johor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency chief First Admiral Nurul Hizam Zakaria said the ship, loaded with palm oil waste, was spotted 23.11 nautical miles north-east of Tanjung Penawar at 3.30pm on Monday ."While the crewmen were documented, the ship’s captain failed to produce valid papers to anchor in Malaysia.
"The ship was seized and all of them were detained under Section 491B of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952, which carries a fine of up to RM100,000 or maximum jail term of two years, or both if convicted," he said. Nurul Hizam reminded all vessel operators to obtain permission to anchor from the Marine Department before doing so.
