Ministry in talks with private firms to curb fake news, online fraud

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin says the ministry is looking to cooperate with private firms to better tackle the spread of fake news and online scams. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, August 8, 2020.

THE Communications and Multimedia Ministry is refining its efforts to address online fraud and the spread of fake news by engaging with private companies to curb the problem. Deputy Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin said the involvement of the private companies will provide cybersecurity services to protect users’ personal data.
