Military gets emergency powers to detain MCO violators

Armed forces personnel and officers will have the same authority as police to detain and take action against those who flout the movement-control order. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Seth Akmal, January 14, 2021.

ARMED forces personnel and officers now have the power to detain and take action against those violating the movement-control order . Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said under the implementation of the Emergency Ordinance, army and police hold the same authority and this will help efforts to manage the Covid-19 situation better.
